My year in GRi11 2.0

Dear future Kristy (if that’s still your name)

I’m here to tell you all the awesome things child you did at College Street Normal School ( your third primary school.) First of all remember when you got the lead role of Cinderella in the production? You were so nervous and when you were supposed to be on stage you were only just getting your second dress on because their was a huge crowd of little kids waiting to go on stage, and you couldn’t get past them. Before we go any further I would like to ask you a very important question…..
Is their time travel in the future? If so please send me a letter saying that it's you. Also Do you have kids or a Husband?

Right now it's 2016 and it's probably 2036 for you or something like that. Anyway, Are you famous or did that dream never come true? I guess I'll find out soon. Now I would like to remind you of Jump Jam. The whole Jump Jam team went to Tauranga (in NZ just in case you forgot) and we stayed at this awesome place called the reef apartments. Right next to the apartments was a beach we went to the beach and did sparklers because I was guy fawkes night. At the back of the apartments their was a huge pool! It was heated and half the pool was warm and the other half was hot. It was Amazing! When we performed we did Gangnam Style! And we came 3rd which was awesome because we got put into the open advanced category.

Do you remember how you used devices every day in Gri11 2.0 (that was our class name) and how we used Google classroom and drive. I bet you have something way better than a MacBook Air computer. I would like to remind you of your blog so here’s the link: link to Blog
You/ I posted a lot of stuff on that blog.

Hopefully you're living a successful great life, but if you're not then hurry up you don't have that long before you become old and can't do anything.

Cultural Diversity - Yoga

This term Gri11 2.0 have been learning about Cultural Diversity. Cultural Diversity is embracing other cultures and knowing how different they're to your culture or someone else's. At the moment we're taking action. My group is Doing a yoga class for each syndicate, we are running these yoga classes at a cultural Festival that other students from our class are running. We are also running these classes for one of our school sports rotations, which I'm really looking forward too.

My group and I have worked really hard at organising our class and creating our routine that we will be teaching the students that come to our yoga class. We have done a trial yoga class and the students that came to the class loved it, which makes us feel really good about teaching the yoga.

One of the girls in my group (Holly G) does yoga, so she taught us a couple of the moves that she does at her Yoga class.

Yoga is fun and I hope you can try it sometime!

Jump Jam in Tauranga

On Friday the CSNS Jump Jammers went to Tauranga to compete in the Jump Jam Nationals. We took two vans from school to our apartment in Tauranga. It was a five hour drive, but it went really quick because my friend Ava and I were making up parody's to songs. We stopped in Taupo to eat lunch and play at the park. My favourite part about the park was the swings because there were five swings and they are all facing each other so when you swing on them you hit every ones feet. It's so scary but mostly fun.

When we finally got to Tauranga we were all so excited to see what the apartments looked like. The teachers put four people in each apartment plus a teacher, the apartments were huge! Ava and I got the biggest room and it was awesome. The teachers made us go to bed early because we had a big day on Saturday.

The next day Miss Williams walked into our rooms at 5:30 am ( I know, too early) with her phone videoing Ava and I sleeping. After about 2 minutes she finally woke us up. " It's too early" we groaned. When I finally got up I ate some breakfast and got dressed then they started to do our make up. We had sparkly silver eyes and two pink stars on the side of our fore heads. Next the did our hair, it looked like a mow hawk, but it was cool. Once we had finished getting ready we took the vans to the theatre.

Once we arrived at the theatre, I had so many butterflies in my tummy it felt like i was on a roller coaster. A lady lead us down to the stage, my butterflies got even worse. The group before us walked off stage and before I had any time to realise that it was our turn to go on stage we were already walking on. As soon as the music started my butterflies went away. everyone put so much energy into the performance, it looked awesome! When we got off stage no one could talk because we had been chanting so loud that it hurt to talk. Finally all the performances had been and it was time to find out the placings. We walked on stage nervously, They read out third place " in third place we have..... College St Normal School with Gangnam Style!" We were all so happy we couldn't believe we got a placing.

It was such a fun weekend and I wish I could do it again!

LILY IN THE JUNGLE
FEATURING THE MAGICAL WISHING TREE

On a summer’s day, Lily was making her mother a special birthday breakfast. Lily had light mousey brown long hair with a little red ribbon tied around her ponytail. She wore a red cloak and buckle shoes. With her buckle shoes, she wore high knee socks with little red ribbons at the top of them. She had just made her mother pancakes with maple syrup, muffins with butter and a cup of tea all ready to take in to her mother’s bedroom. Suddenly Lily remembered SHE FORGOT THE FLOWERS FOR THE SIDE OF THE TRAY! Lily grabbed her basket and set out to the jungle to find the perfect flowers for her mother.

Lily had been walking for what felt like at least an hour but still hadn’t found the perfect flower for her mother. She had walked past yellow flowers, purple flowers, red flowers and pink flowers but none of them stood out to Lily at all. Lily felt like giving up. She started to walk back home, when all of a sudden a big bad wolf jumped out in front of Lily. Lily ran for her life all the way to the other side of the jungle. Until she finally lost the big bad wolf. When Lily caught her breath she took a look around her. There were 5 different paths and she was standing right in the middle  of all of them. She looked around her, to her right was a tall tree. The tree was gold and sparkly and all the leaves were even golder and even sparklier. Lily picked a few leaves for her mum and put them in her basket, they were perfect! Lily chose the path to her right, hopefully it was the right path.

Lily had been walking for what seemed like forever, She started to wonder if she took the right path. Lily’s mouth was as dry as the desert. “I wish I could drink some water” whispered Lily. BOOOOOOOM! Suddenly a long river appeared with a sign saying Drinkable Water. Lily was so happy. There was a drink bottle next to the river, Lily scooped the water into the drink bottle and poured the water into her mouth. Lily put the drink bottle in her basket and started walking on the path again, but then Lily stopped she asked herself how did that river and that drink bottle get there and what was that big boom? “I wish I knew” sighed Lily. BOOOOOOOM! “I know what made that river appear and that drink bottle and Now I know what it is, THE LEAVES!

Lily carefully took out the leaves in her basket their were three leaves, she only had one more wish left. Lily closed her eyes “ I wish I could go home” she said in a loud voice. BOOOOOOOM! Lily opened her eyes she was in her kitchen holding her basket in one hand and the three magical wish leaves in the other. Lily’s mouth was dry again, but Lily had to give her mother her birthday breakfast so she set the flowers up nicely on her mother’s breakfast tray and steadily walked into her mother’s room. “SURPRISE” shouted Lily “ Happy birthday Mother.”Lily’s mother was so happy and so was Lily. “Honey grandma is sick can you take her some bread please.” So Lily set off into the Jungle to deliver the bread to her grandma.

My Fathers day writing

For Father's day GRi11 2.0 have been writing different text types about our Dad's to give to them on Father's Day. This is my Father's day writing

My Dad
My Dad likes to play lots of sports, he has coached rugby for 25 years, first in Scotland, then the Hurricanes in Wellington, and after that it was the Taranaki team in New Plymouth. My Dad stopped coaching for a while and went into business, no matter how many times he explained what his business was about I still don't know. Unfortunately the business didn't work out but just recently he found another job coaching a rugby club in Nelson.

My Dad lives in Nelson, I live in Palmerston North. I miss my Dad so much, I miss his hugs, his really bad jokes that only he thinks are funny, getting to talk about my day to him and every gross, funny, annoying and loving part of him. I love talking to my Dad but sometimes I don't have any time to talk with him.

My Dad always used to eat my chocolate, especially at Christmas. I would open up the wrapping paper to see it was chocolate, I was always really excited because I LOVE chocolate I would eat two rows and then on the next day I would come back and it just disappeared over night, but I mean that’s why I love him.

I am my Dad’s favorite child (well I’m pretty sure anyway.) I guess I’m the youngest and he was the youngest in his family so it’s just a younger sibling kind of bond.

My Dad is a cool Dad, he’s not too embarrassing, but when he starts dancing we are not related at all. I’m so lucky to have you as my Dad, I mean thanks to you i’m alive. Happy Fathers day Dad, youŕe the best!

Hungary

Hungary is a landlocked country in Europe. Their are 7 countries bordering Hungary Ukraine, Slovakia, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia
The capital of Hungary is Budapest and 9,821,973 million people live in Hungary.

The Hungarian flag looks similar to the Italian flag their are three lines that go horizontally the top one is red the middle line is white and the last line is green.

The highest point in Hungary is Kékes which is 1,014 m tall. It is Hungary's third most popular tourist attraction. Kékes in Hungarian means blue because Kékes is a blueish colour.

Air and water pollution are some of Hungary’s most serious environmental problems, because if their water is too dirty then they will be no clean water that the public can drink. Unfortunately Hungary aren’t doing anything to fix this problem, but if they did they should make a campaign on saving our environment.

Hungary are going to the Rio Olympics 2016. Over the years that Hungary have been to the Olympics they have won 482 medals all together. Hungary came 6th in the 2012 London Olympics.

I hope Hungary sort out their environmental problems otherwise no one will want to visit Hungary anymore. I also hope they do well in the Olympics!

in class we have been doing Haiku's. A Haiku is poem that has 5 syllables for the first line, 7 syllables for the second line and 5 again for the last line. We made 4 about our holidays but only chose one to post on our blogs

I enjoyed making Haiku's!

Our Whole School Production

7/7/17

This year CSNS put on a whole school production called Cinderella and Rockerfella. I played the role of Cinderella. The night came so fast and went even quicker. I had so much fun with my friends joking about things in the production but also being serious about our roles in the production.

This is a photo of me and my friends in the interval at the production.
It was really fun and a good way to finish the term!

My Favorite Thing About Learning In GRi11 2.0!

2/06/16

My favourite thing about learning in GRi11 2.0 is how many devices we have and that we use them everyday for our learning. I really enjoy having a blog and following fast track.

Fast track is a document on a device that the teachers set us tasks on. We have our names in a list down the left hand side of the page. and the tasks up the top. we copy and paste our links from the task that we did under the task on fast track beside our name. It sounds confusing but it'sreally easy when you know what you're doing.
Here's a photo of Fast Track!

Computers are really fun to use because you don't have to lean on anything to write and you just press one button to delete instead of having to get a rubber then rubbing it out. We also have enough devices in our room for everyone to have one each and at my old school we only had 10 to share between 240 kids (4 classes.)

I really enjoy devices and hope we use them a lot in the future!
